Construction output in Hungary grows 14.5 percent in October

In October, the output of the construction industry in Hungary was 14.5 percent higher than a year earlier, with the construction of buildings up by 19.7 percent and that of other construction by 9.7 percent, the Central Statistical Office reported.

Compared to the previous month, seasonally and working-day adjusted construction output grew by 1.1 percent. 

Among the various construction sectors, the output increased by 23.2 percent in the construction of buildings and by 8.7 percent in the construction of other structures. Specialized construction was 13.0 percent higher than a year earlier. 

The value of construction output at current prices was 518.6 billion forints, down 4.8 percent on the previous month and up 34.0 percent on a year earlier, resulting in an annual price increase of 14.5 percent.

The volume of new contracts signed during the month was 3.7 percent lower than in October last year, with contracts for the construction of buildings down 4.5 percent and those for the construction of other structures down 2.9 percent. 

The contract portfolio of construction companies was 6.7 percent higher at the end of October than a year earlier. The volume of contracts for the construction of buildings was 12.6 percent and for other constructions 2.8 percent higher than a year earlier.

In the first ten months of the year, construction output rose by 11.0 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
