Mol will acquire Marché International, the company that operates nine Marché restaurants at petrol stations in Hungary, Mol Hungary told MTI on Thursday.

According to the statement, the agreement is in line with the updated long-term strategy of Mol Group, which puts special emphasis on the development of consumer services.

The announcement quotes Péter Ratatics, Executive Vice President for Consumer Services at Mol Group, who pointed out that since the restaurants are located next to key filling stations, they can be made into complex service points under the Fresh Corner brand.

Based on the Fresh Corner concept launched in 2015, Mol offers not only fuel at its filling stations, but also coffee, sandwiches and pastries already at 185 locations. The concept greatly contributed to the fact that the consumer services business increased the group's earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) by a record $ 510 million (HUF 156 billion) in 2020, Mol reported.

The closing of the transaction requires, among other things, the approval of the competition authority.
