The salaries of healthcare professionals will rise by another 20 percent from November 1, the Human Resources Ministry said in Hungary

According to the announcement, this is the third step in a gradual pay rise programme adopted in 2018, which is aimed at the revision of nursing staff wages.

Salaries rose by 14 percent in January this year, and will increase by another 20 percent on November 1.

The ministry statement added that as a result, all health professionals will now earn 42 percent more than two years ago.
The government has earmarked 82 billion forints for the pay increase this year, which will affect 81,000 healthcare professionals and 4,000 health visitors.

The statement pointed out:

Hungarian healthcare workers are doing an excellent job every day, in every single shift despite the pandemic, so we are pleased that we can show them our appreciation and support also in this form in this hard situation.

The increased wages will first appear on workers’ accounts in December, the statement added.

It was also revealed that the next step in the wage increase programme is due in January 2022 and will include a 30 percent rise.
