Passenger traffic at Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport was more than 80 percent lower in July than a year earlier, however, compared to the previous month, the number of passengers was three times as high.
A statement by Budapest Airport, the operator company of the airport itself revealed that in July this year 301 thousand passengers were registered arriving or departing, which is 81 percent fewer than at the same time last year. However, more and more of the flights previously grounded due to the coronavirus epidemic are resuming, which is why in July more than three times as many passengers turned up at Ferihegy Airport as in June this year.
Budapest Airport pointed out that in August 500 direct flights a week are available from Budapest to 98 destinations. People are gradually returning to foreign travel, which is partly due to the fact that passengers consider air travel from Budapest to be safe.
According to data by the Centre for Aviation CAPA, 3.2 million passengers turned up at the airport in Budapest so far this year, 64 percent fewer than in the same period last year.
