The EU was absolutely right in signing an investment treaty between the EU and China. It did not hand China a strategic win /Gideon Rachman, FT, 5 January/, it followed the win-win strategy of all winners.
We, Europeans, need to avoid a new cold war between the U.S. and China at nearly all costs. The new investment treaty supports that by opening up new business opportunities between Europe and China, between the West and the East.
Business can benefit from both war and peace. Investments tend to capitalise on wealth creation in peaceful times, so they prefer peace to war. Good, that is the rationale of the exercise.
According to game theory, it is always better to start the game as a dove and change just after the other becomes a predator.
