The third wave of finance is coming in the third decade of the 21st century.
In the 2000s, the global banking sector played the main role in finance.
In the aftermath of the 2007/9 global financial crisis, leading central banks became the only game in town in the 2010s.
In the 2020s, however, national budgets will play the leading role in finance. Time has come for governments to step in.
