We men piled up huge debts to women during the Covid-19 pandemic. This pandemic has been much harder on women than men. /Sanda Ojiambo, FT, 8 March 2021/ It is alarming, that women are 1.8 times more likely to lose their jobs and their unpaid work at home increased dramatically. Women’s exposure to the virus is the highest due to their 70% ratio of all healthcare workers and their majority share of teachers, cleaners or store attendants.

The time has come to focus on new opportunities and technologies that can ease women’s burden in work and at home.

Remote working, flexible arrangements for all employees, a complete overhaul of health-care institutions or a digital transition in education can help a lot to ease their burden. Robots, drones, AI and all the new brave world of IT-based gadgets and “helping hands” will also offer new solutions.

We owe a lot to women, it is high time to start debt-servicing.
