It is tempting to see the present skirmishes between India and China as the re-run of the former Sino-Soviet split, leading to a new Sino-Indian split during cold war 2.0. /Gideon Rachman, FT, 23 June 2020/.

Nevertheless, India is too big to choose a side. It did not happen in the past and it will not happen in the future. India is really determined to forge its own way, her real interests are in the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea.

India is still vulnerable to plunge into a civil war in the 2020s.  Finally, it might aim for gaining influence over some American allies. In this endeavor, the natural ally is China, not America.
